So, our example would work out like this:

The next thing to do is to turn the “name” into an equation (not hard, just get rid
of the letters and put addition signs in all the spaces…)

1 + 6 + 8 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 6 + 2 + 5 + 9 + 3 + 1 + 6 + 5 = name number  

As a side note, one of the fun things to do here is to play with how you add
them up.  Most numerologists recommend the “one equation at a time” method
wherein:

(1 + 6) + 8 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 6 + 2 + 5 + 9 + 3 + 1 + 6 + 5 = name number  
becomes
(7 + 8) + 5 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 6 + 2 + 5 + 9 + 3 + 1 + 6 + 5 = name number
which becomes
(15 + 5) + 1 + 1 + 3 + 6 + 2 + 5 + 9 + 3 + 1 + 6 + 5 = name number  
etc.

given you?  Do the math!
 An actress friend of
mine does a
numerological analysis
of every character she
reviews.  A songwriter
friend uses numerology
and his rhyming
dictionary when
composing.  The
application is only as
limited as your choices
in using the system.

Converting Your Name
to a number is actually
really easy to do.  Don’t
let the math scare you!

First, you write out your
entire name.  As an
example we’ll do a
fictitious name:

"John Jacob Wilson"

It should be stated that the
number and letter correlation
presented here are recently
modern.  They are based neither
in true Kabalistic method (which was based on the Hebrew lettering system) nor
in the Greek (you know Greek letters – alpha, omega, epsilon).  However, this
association with the English alphabet has been in use for approximately 500
years or more.

Over the years, different practitioners have given the equations and the
systems different names.  Whether you call it a Name Number, a Destiny
Number, a Ruling Number, Challenge Number, Personality Number, or Fate
Number, it is still the same thing.  It is the reduction of your name (your FULL
name) to a mathematical equation.

Those who have changed their name (through marriage or otherwise) might
want to do both their birth name and the name they are using now and compare
the two.  Want a way to check out that new nickname your friends have

Now, many people make a big deal out of having to do
out the entire chart, and to some it helps with the
focus.  However, a sum of a string of numbers is a
sum of the string of numbers no matter how you stack
the same numbers (another example of this can be
seen at the top of the page).  In other words…just
add them up! Some folks find it easier to do the math
if they stack the name one letter per line on lined
paper vertically rather than writing it out horizontally.
It is absolutely fine to use a calculator!
