Totem Reading
Spread
Read about Dr. Nikki and see what a Totem
Spread looks like here.
When you get a totem spread done you will
be asked if you have a special affinity to an
animal, fish, bird, or insect.  This affinity
many times indicates that although you may
not be sure why, you have already been
chosen by that being as a carrier of its totem.

Dr. Nikki chooses the American Indian
Totem Cards for her spread.  Somewhere back along the way, according to
research conducted by her mother on the family’s genealogy on her father’s
side, Dr. Nikki has a smidge of MicMac Indian blood.  Not enough to actually
claim it as any more of her heritage than her Scottish, English and French (and
who knows what else) bloodlines, but a connection she personally cherishes and
connects with.  Having spent all her life living in the northern climes, Dr. Nikki
associates most strongly with the North.  In her Army days one of her
nicknames was “Glacier Lady” for just reasons.

Since childhood Dr. Nikki has had an affinity for eagles.  Whether just
watching them soar above the high peaks or being stunned silent by the majesty
of a mating flight, eagles and the North are what have given her the greatest
joys and challenges.  Although Eagle did not turn up in her spread today, we
will still look at eagle because it is obvious that Eagle choose Dr. Nikki to be a
carrier of its totem long ago.   She has collected Eagle in painting, sketch and
statue, trinket and design and her home holds over 50 eagle statues or pictures.
The eagle will be discussed last as Dr. Nikki considers the Eagle to be the
Totem of her Soul-Self, the culmination of all that we are.
As Bear appeared in the east for Dr. Nikki it should be noted that the day this
spread was thrown we were visited by a grizzly bear out the back door.  The
bear came within ten feet from the house on the uphill side.  She spent nearly a
half-hour munching and scrunching through the brush and berries.  She wove
her way with little delicacy through the old Saskatoon and Huckleberry bushes,
slumping branches against the ground to eat her fill and then allowing them to
spring back as she moved on to the next branch.  Her visit implanted the stamp
of Bear Energy strongly at beginning of Dr. Nikki’s Totem Spread.

Moose, Bear, Grouse, Turkey, Buffalo, Ant, Swan and Frog have all
appeared in the flesh within the last month or so.  A moose came down through
the back section of the house…we got great pictures.  Grouse was seen on the
side of the road in the shade of the cedar grove by the creek, Buffalo is not
surprising as we live in Montana.  Ant has been persistent in its
appearances…whether at home or at the grocery store they seem to be making
themselves known more – rather than there being more of them.  Swan was seen
floating gently on still water with her neck in the beautiful half-heart curve so
indicative of Swan’s grace.  Frog clings to the outside walls of the house in the
spring.  The oak barrel in the garden often has a frog visiting its cool depths.
The only Totem animal she has not seen “face to face” within the last thirty
days is the Opossum, so particular attention should be paid to the Opossum for
it may be that through lack of appearance Opossum may have a special
message for her.
