As there are twelve signs within the wheel of the Zodiac, so also are there twelve Houses. The Houses of the Zodiac are different from the individual signs, although there are twelve of each. If you think of the houses as the “playing field” and the planets as the “players” it is much easier to understand the role the houses play in the Zodiac. For example, if the Moon is in your 7th house (partnerships), then the energies of the Moon will have a strong pull on the energies of your partnerships through life.
