A Few Close Friends Get Together

Few Close FriendsThis is a great party for a fewFew Close Friends. If you’re looking for a way to spend a great afternoon and have some fun, here’s an easy entertainment to put together.

“Guest Lists for Few Close Friends”

Decide how many folks you are inviting and how long you plan to entertain. This will help you answer questions when you are making contacts for your entertainers for Few Close Friends. Normally for this type of party you want to keep it small and intimate – 4-5 people at most.

Preparations List for Few Close Friends

1. Check your telephone book and get phone numbers for:

a. Beautician (the Mary Kay lady is always happy to come do a facial thing. You can ask them to do a party. I’ve even used the Mary Kay lady to come in and give talks to my daughter’s girl scout troop as part of their hygiene badge. Normally the Mary Kay lady is more than willing to come to you, bring her supplies and talk to you and your friends about color, style, make-up, and what’s best to do with your nails.)
b. If Mary Kay or make up is not your style, call around to the local salons or beauty school and see if there is a freelance manicurist/nail artist in your area. (Even folks with the worst fingernails in the world appreciate a quick
manicure.)
c. Caterer (or figure out what you want to do for food – if you’re trying to do it on the cheap)

2. Call and set up the beautician/manicurist and food (as applicable). On the food we recommend that you go with finger food. It is usually quite affordable to call the local deli and get some cheese and cracker trays, meat trays, etc. For libations that depends on the type of party you’re going to have. Wine seems to be very popular. But for minors juices would work wonders. For this gathering I heartily recommend the wine…it makes it far more fun!

3. Rearrange the dining room and living room a little bit and give it a bit of a “beauty shop look.” Put out a few extra mirrors, and the magazines and books mentioned above. Another idea is to check the video stores or rentals for a fun “chick-flick.” To fit the theme of the day an “ugly duckling to a Swan” type story makes the day. (Some suggestions that come to mind are Gone With the Wind, Beauty Shop, Steele Magnolias, or Miss Congeniality).

4. Call your friends and let them know what’s going on. Keep it relaxed, tell them they’re welcome to show up in sweat pants and T-shirts if they want. Since you’re paying for entertainers you’ll want to make sure you know how many you have coming.

5. Obtain stuff for “goodie bags.” You can get as elaborate on this as you want. Me, I prefer simple and inexpensive (means I can entertain more). Some “goodie bag” contents for a few friends get together could be some nail polish, hand crème, facial masks, pumice stone, cuticle oil, etc.

6. Obtain the “about me” questionnaires.

Suggestions As To How To Make It Work for Few Close Friends

Treat it like a beauty shop. When you greet your guests, check them off the “appointment list” as if they were being greeted in a high end salon. (A calendar open with a piece of paper on it and the guests names is perfect. A fancy feather topped pen ads some pinache.) Set it up for chatting and talking. As mentioned above, have ladies’ magazines laying about. If the conversation starts to lag or things slow down, start one of the questionnaires. They are very easy to find. They’re all over the internet, there’s books of them in the new age or local bookstores. I’m talking about the type of questionnaires they ask in Cosmo and Glamour and that type of thing. (If you are doing the Teen version of this party, use teen magazines and websites to obtain the questionnaires.) If you want to add a spiritual aspect to the day, the questionnaire could be from a spiritual magazine or book. As hostess, ask the questions and track the scores for your guests so the tallying at the end is more easily shared with a Few Close Friends!
