Here we provide you with quick-link navigation through the Major Arcana of the Tarot Deck. These cards are the ones that are the least understood. Most of us can easily see the parallel between the Minor Arcana (Aces through Kings) and today’s standard deck of playing cards.

There are a total of 22 Major Arcana cards in the Tarot Deck. Beginning with The Fool the Major Arcana lead us through many of the archetypes that we all experience as we walk through our life’s path. Those who have researched the Jung Archetypal psychological theory will see many of Jung’s ideas echoing down through the ages from well before he was even born. The Major Arcana are believed by many readers to hold more meaning or strength in a reading. It is worth noting that when one follows the path of the Fool throughout the experiences of the Major Arcana, ending with The World, one has experienced a wide range of experiences. Once one has accomplished goals and achieved desired fulfillments, one is said to be “sitting on top of the world.” Once you’re on top of the world it’s time to set new goals, start new endeavors, and move into different phases of life. This is the normal path and growth of the human condition.

It is said that most of the divinatory information in reading Tarot comes through the Major Arcana cards that show up in the reading. In fact, there are many decks that only deal with these 22 cards and concepts. When there are no Major Arcana in a reading it may indicate that it is either not a good time for the reading or that the individual is really at the vagaries of the winds of fate at that time. Many other meanings can be gleaned from the Major Arcana, especially when interrelations to other cards in the particular spread are taken into consideration.
