The discord between the couple here is obvious. While he is intent on the supplicant before him, she is disinterested. His action in this scene is shown by him being the only one to hold the stave of power. She, uncaring has removed her hand.
When this card appears in your spread, sharpen your thinking because negotiations or business dealings are soon to be on the way! This card cautions us (the woman could be construed as being angry) against giving only with strings attached. Knowing that true gifts come from the heart and not for future gain, she turns her head from what she knows is a less than honorable deal.
