Page of Swords (Spades)
The Page is the first of the Court Cards. Here we see a young boy carrying a sword that is obviously heavy for him. His ineptness with the weapon is shown in how he carries it. The salamanders from the Ace of this suit appear again here, dancing in a circle in the motif behind the boy’s head. His expression is one of readiness and intensity as if investigating a strange noise.
Although hesitant and cautious the page does his duty. He is discreet and perceptive, aware of everything around him. His insight is seen in his determined step and stance in the obvious direction of the threat. Although young, he will learn to use the sword (his intellect) to best advantage as he goes through life. The Page also speaks of learning and development, this not yet completed.
