Convert your birth date to a Number

conv-bdateHere the point is to reduce your date of birth to a single digit. Our fictitious example, Mr. John Jacob Wilson, has a birth date of June Nineteenth, in the year one thousand, nine hundred fifty-three. To convert his date of birth to a number is simple and easy.

First, express the date in numeric terms: June (06), Nineteenth (19), one thousand, nine hundred fifty-three (1953); or 06.19.1953
Second, just like with the name number, you break it down to a simple addition equation:

0 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 3 = birth number

As a side note, one of the fun things to do here is to play with how you add them up. Most numerologists recommend the “one equation at a time” method wherein:

(0 + 6) + 1 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 3 =
becomes
(6 + 1) + 9 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 3 =
which becomes
(7 + 9) + 1 + 9 + 5 + 3 =
etc.
(16 + 1) + 9 + 5 + 3 =
(17 + 9) + 5 + 3 =

(26 + 5) + 3 =
(31 + 3) =
34 needs to be reduced to a single digit, so…
3 + 4 = 7

Another method of doing the math for this birth date (some numerologists swear that the way you compute the number makes a difference) is to compute the separate elements of the birth date before putting them together. In our example of June 19, 1953:
06 19 1953
0 + 6 = 6 1 + 9 = 10 (1 + 9) + 5 + 3
6 1 + 0 = 1 (10 + 5) + 3
1 (15 + 3)
18 – needs to be reduced to a single digit, so
1 + 8 = 9
(6 + 1) + 9
(7 + 9)
16 needs to be reduced to a single digit, so…
1 + 6 = 7

Any Fourth Grader can tell you that a sum is a sum. No matter how you stack, jumble, sub-sect and then compute, you’re still going to get the same result.

With what little we know of them it’s not that large of a stretch to see where those of the Pythagorean School would believe that the formulae (the process) of how you achieved the sum would have been almost as important as the sum itself. Some speculate that the step-by-step process is best because it can show an individual a “chain of events” or “sequence” that is related specifically to them. Here we present the methodology; the personal significance is just that…personal and up to you.
